AFRICAN BEACH SOCCER UPDATES

The Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations ( BSAFCON) championship was established in 2006 when FIFA made it a requirement for all confederations to begin holding qualification tournaments on Beach Soccer to determine the best national teams in their region.

Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) initially organised the competition under the title FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualifier also known as the CAF Beach Soccer championship

CAF became the lead organisers in 2015, establishing a qualification phase to determine the elite nations to compete in the tournament finals. CAF also officially renamed the Tournament as Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations (BSAFCON)

CELEBRATED BEACH SOCCER COACH ANGELO SCHRINZI UNVEILED AS UGANDA SAND CRANES HEAD COACH

The Fufa president Eng. Moses Magogo has told unveiled the Swiss Coach Angelo Shrinzi as head Coach of the sand Cranes. Angelo is a big name in the world of beach soccer and a lot of expectation from Ugandans is high.

Coach Angelo is hired on a short contract to steer the Uganda National Beach Soccer team to Fufa Beach Soccer World Cup.

While unveiling him, the FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo said that Angelo’s vast expertise in the game will spur the team to FIFA BEACH SOCCER World Cup and help our local coaches learn a lot from him. ” We are more determined than before to take this game to another level. We hope your experience will guide us in this.”

On his part Coach, Angelo Shrinzi spoke much about his career as a beach soccer coach and Fifa Beach Soccer Coaches Instructor. He has immense experience good enough to develop Uganda’s national beach soccer team.

Present during the unveiling was the Fufa Excom Member Mr. Ronnie Kalema who is the Executive Secretary in charge of football development at Fufa, Mr. Deo Mutabazi the Uganda Beach Soccer Association chairman, and Me. Decolas Hantali Kizza the Fufa deputy CEO in charge of football and Mr. Tumwesigye Anthony the Fufa Delegate was representing beach soccer in the Fufa assembly.

The ceremony took place at Fufa Mengo with a press conference where the media took him through a questions session.

Before coming to Uganda coach Angelo has just aided the Swiss National Beach Soccer team win the European Beach Soccer Championship in Italy. He told members of the press that he has been to Seven Fifa Beach Soccer World Cups a vast experience to make us proud.

His immediate task is to prepare the team for Cosafa Beach Soccer Championship in Durban South Africa which kicks off from 25th Sept to 1st October 2022. Then later to Maputo Mozambique for the AFCON BEACH SOCCER FINALS 2022.

At Uganda Beach soccer Association we wish coach Angelo the best of luck and we pledge to give him the necessary support.

UBSA Holds Successful 10th AGM

Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) fulfilled its statutory requirement of holding the Annual General Meeting (AGM) prior to the FUFA General Assembly slated for next month.

It should be noted that UBSA is one of the 34 members that constitute the football governing body in Uganda.

UBSA held its 10th ordinary AGM on Saturday at Buganda Royal Institute in Mengo, Kampala.
In his remarks, the chairman of UBSA, Deo Mutabazi indicated the journey has had both highs and lows but he is proud that the game has managed to wither through the storm.

“If you look at how we started, there is definitely a reason to be proud. There were challenges at the beginning but the success attained over the years is a basis for us to be proud.” He said.

“We set up competitive leagues for both men and women, it is the reason why every day the association becomes strong in Uganda but even with our neighbors in the region,” Mutabazi added.

FUFA EXCO Member, Ronnie Kalema who represented President Eng. Moses Magogo as the guest of honor lauded UBSA for remaining committed to developing the game.

“As FUFA, we laud UBSA for the efforts in promoting the game both in Uganda and the region at large ., FUFA is committed to improving the game both on and off the pitch now the emphasis is on infrastructure development in all the eight football regions .”

FUFA Deputy CEO- Service, Humphry Mandu who also graced the function asserted that the Federation is committed to helping the game make strides in every aspect.

“From humble beginnings, beach soccer has made steady progress and with the support of FUFA, we are confident that the future is bright.”

The assembly announced a budget of UGX 291,180, 000 for the year 2022/2023.

FUFA will hold its Ordinary AGM on 15th October at Acholi in Gulu.

UGANDA SAND CRANES LATEST UPDATE

The FUFA Executive Committee approved the proposal to reinforce the Technical team of the Uganda National Beach Soccer team-Sand Cranes. The Exco endorsed the appointment of Angelo Schirinzi from Switzerland for the period that will see the Sand Cranes feature at the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship in South Africa and the 2022 AFCON Beach Soccer Finals in Mozambique.

THE UBSA 10TH ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY GET CLOSER

Uganda Beach Soccer Association is slated to organize its 10th Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday 10th September 2022 in Kampala. It’s the Association’s Annual General Meeting this time around to be hosted by Buganda Royal Institute Beach Soccer Club at Kakeeka-Mengo.

The 44 UBSA delegates will converge in the Conference Hall in Kabaka Mulondo building at Buganda Royal Institute at 10:00 am for assembly business.

The Assembly is chaired by the UBSA chairman and will also have the UBSA executive members deliberate on matters of the new season and also give an account of the previous season.

The last AGM was held in Fufa executive board room with a few members in attendance while others were on zoom due to the pandemic situation of Covid 19.

The assembly agenda is as provided by the UBSA statutes and will be followed accordingly. This is going to be the first time that UBSA members are given the opportunity to host the assembly business. The UBSA executive approved this and will be the order of the assembly sitting. This is intended to empower members and also extend the governance pathway for all the Members.

The 44 delegates of the General Assembly come from the ordinary members of UBSA. They include;

  • Uganda Beach Soccer League Clubs
  • Ubsa Lower Leagues Clubs
  • Ubsa Women Beach Soccer League Clubs
  • Ubsa Referees
  • Ubsa Players
  • Ubsa Youths
  • Ubsa Coaches

While the Ubsa associate Members attend by invitation.

UBSA held its first general assembly in 2013, and this one will be its 10th ordinary general assembly. All delegates and invited guests will be expected to observe the Covid 19 protocols. Proper adherence to Covid 19 standard operating procedures is a must.

Sand Cranes Intensifies Campaign For Mozambique 2022 AFCON Beach Soccer Finals

Uganda National Beach Soccer team (Sand Cranes) qualified for the Africa Cup Of Nations Beach Soccer Finals slated for the 21st to 28th October in MAPUTO Mozambique this year.

Uganda to qualify defeated Comoros 2-5 in Moron and 4-3 at Fufa technical center, Njeru to book the ticket for finals in Mozambique.

Head Coach Salim Jamal Muwonge summoned a squad of 20 players to enter the residential camp at Fufa technical center Njeru at a date to be Announced soon. 

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations beefed up the campaign by entering the team in this year’s COSAFA Beach Soccer Tournament slated for 25th Sept to 1st October 2022 in Durban South Africa.

The team is entering the residential training next week and then will fly out on 23rd Sept 2022  to Durban South Africa. The Durban tournament will help the coaches to gauge the strength of the team and they will return straight to camp for final polishing before going to MAPUTO Mozambique for the Africa finals.

While speaking to this website, Coach Salim Jamal Muwonge was very optimistic that the team would make Ugandans proud. “The boys are in good shape and very positive. We shall use the Cosafa tournament to sharpen our squad before traveling to Mozambique. I thank Fufa for giving us this conducive environment to prepare the team. We just call upon Ugandans to rally behind us in this campaign”. 

Uganda Sand Cranes last edition qualified for by AFCON BEACH SOCCER FINALS in Saly Senegal and reached the semifinals. Uganda is currently ranked 5th in Africa and 36th Globally.
